Patients with similar degrees of sleep apnea severity have widely varying clinical features.
We cannot predict which sleep apnea patients will fall asleep driving or have memory problems simply be measuring the severity of sleep apnea in a sleep study. Therefore we are working to develop a simple set of office based tests to predict impaired driving and awake performance in sleep apnea.
We are looking for people aged between 25–65 who have sleep apnea and are willing to be sleep deprived. This study involves 28 hours of sleep deprivation to examine the effects of sleep apnea on daytime sleepiness, performance and attention. All results are confidential.
We need your help to discover new tests that can help doctors better understand the impairments caused by obstructive sleep apnea.
