Reuters Health report on a new review of online advertisements from paediatric “sleep coaches” finds that more than half do not have any previous health care or educational experience, and most have no more than a bachelor’s degree.
Experience in Australia suggests a similar lack of qualifications in some of our “sleep coaches”. I have seen people who have done a 3 hour course become internet experts or selling their services. Some appear on the local lecture circuit or do rounds of their media marketing their services. Ensuring professional standards and marketing the importance of those professional standards are hopefully on the agenda of our craft organisations.
